The Clone Hand is the most human-level musculoskeletal hand in the world, actuated with Clone’s proprietary, hydraulic muscles and valves.

Size and biometric characteristics are the same as human hand. Includes half of arm bone, full forearm and palm with all possible degrees of freedom.

Created with polymers

Clone has developed fast and inexpensive methods to produce android components from reusable materials that can be obtained almost for free. Clone's polymers are softer, lighter, cheaper, and better performing than metals.

Functional biomimetic design

  • Textile connective tissue
  • Monolithic tendon-muscles
  • Molded, carbon fiber bones

Artificial muscles

Our artificial muscles are built with cheap materials, robust to high stress and damage, and able to accommodate 10X larger payloads than comparable hands. Clone’s muscles also enable a 1:1 biomimetic form factor that accelerates robotic manipulation learning time.

Electrohydraulic valves

Clone has invented a unique valve design for the McKibben muscles that enables either force or flow control.

Clone’s proportional valves have been miniaturized (>10X smaller than Adroit Hand valves) to fit inside a humanoid torso. The valves include proprioceptive pressure feedback for each muscle, and the network topology of valves makes a daisy chain.

Hydraulic power supply

A battery-powered hydraulic pump, close in volume to the human heart, pressurizes the Clone’s artificial muscles while fitting compactly inside a human skeletal torso.
