In Sheets, the default model for all functions is gpt-3.5-turbo, whereas in Docs, it is gpt-3.5-turbo-16k. The choice of model can be tailored based on factors such as cost, latency, and capability, conveniently accessible in the sidebars. Marc Andreessen hailed this tool as a "killer app," highlighting its potential. GPT for Sheets™ and Docs™ introduces a suite of straightforward custom functions enabling users to harness ChatGPT and Claude AI capabilities within Google Sheets™. These functions include GPT_TRANSLATE for content translation, GPT_EXTRACT to retrieve entities from Sheets™ data, GPT_SUMMARIZE for content summarization, and several others for diverse tasks like cleaning data, generating blog post ideas, managing product catalogs for e-commerce, SEO metadata work, and more.

This add-on facilitates tasks in Google Docs as well, such as outlining content, expanding, writing emails or blogs, summarizing notes, translating content, and altering content styles. Additionally, it allows easy experimentation with hyperparameters like temperature, model selection (including fine-tuned models in Sheets™), and maxTokens.

During its beta phase, the add-on is entirely free to use, excluding only the cost of OpenAI's or Anthropic's API.
