Top 5+ Qualities (by addoobot)

What we find to be the top qualities of the Huayan S Heavy Payload Cobot Series:

  • Heavy Payload Capacity: Five models cover rated payloads from 20 kg to 60 kg for demanding handling and palletising tasks.
  • Extended Working Reach: Reach ranges from 1,700 mm to 2,000 mm, helping the robots cover large machines, pallets and work areas.
  • Fast Movement: Maximum tool speeds range from 3.5 m/s to 6.4 m/s under the manufacturer’s specified effective-payload conditions.
  • Broad Model Choice: Users can choose between five- and six-axis configurations depending on the required motion and task complexity.
  • Smooth Full-Load Operation: Huayan uses vibration-suppression algorithms to maintain smoother movement under high-load and high-speed conditions.
  • Fast Control Response: EtherCAT communication and a stated 1,000 Hz refresh frequency support responsive robot motion.
  • Modular Construction: The arm, joint modules and boom structure are designed to support easier installation, servicing and configuration.
  • Accessible Programming: Graphical programming and remote interfaces reduce the programming barrier for operators and integrators.
  • Suitable for Large Workpieces: The combination of payload, reach and structural size makes the series useful for components that are too large or heavy for Huayan’s Elfin cobots.
  • Industrial Connectivity: TCP/IP, Modbus and configurable I/O support connection to industrial equipment and automation cells.

Application - Designed for Heavy Industrial Automation

The S Heavy Payload Series is positioned above Huayan’s conventional Elfin cobots. While the Elfin families focus on light and medium payloads, the S models are intended for boxes, workpieces, fixtures and other loads weighing up to 60 kg.

Palletising is one of the clearest applications. The longer reach allows an S robot to access a large portion of a pallet or stacking area, while the higher payload supports heavier cartons and products. The series can also be used for loading and unloading machine tools, transferring metal components, moving automotive parts and supporting assembly processes involving larger products.

The S20 and S30 offer lower payload capacities with smaller robot weights, making them more practical where 40–60 kg capacity is unnecessary. The S40, S50 and S60 move into substantially heavier automation.

Huayan recommends the range for sectors including logistics, automotive manufacturing, metalworking, semiconductor production, new-energy manufacturing and electronics.

What Makes the S Series Different

The defining feature of the S Series is its combination of payload and reach. Its smallest model already handles 20 kg, while the S60 reaches a rated payload of 60 kg. This places the family in a different class from compact cobots intended mainly for electronics assembly, laboratory work or light pick-and-place tasks.

The current lineup also mixes six-axis and five-axis designs. The six-axis S20, S30 and S50 provide a conventional articulated motion arrangement for tasks requiring greater orientation flexibility. The five-axis S40 and S60 may be particularly suitable for structured applications such as palletising and vertical handling, where full six-axis tool orientation is not always required.

Huayan also highlights its modular mechanical construction, vibration-suppression algorithms and EtherCAT-based control. Graphical programming helps retain some of the accessibility associated with smaller collaborative robots, even though the S models are physically much larger and heavier.

S Heavy Payload Model Comparison

Model: S20
Payload: 20 kg | Reach: 1,700 mm | Robot Weight: 64 kg | Repeatability: ±0.03 mm | Axes: 6 | Maximum Tool Speed: 3.5 m/s
Best suited for: Medium-heavy machine tending, palletising, loading, unloading and handling applications that need good repeatability without the size of the larger S models.

Model: S30
Payload: 30 kg | Reach: 1,800 mm | Robot Weight: 93 kg | Repeatability: ±0.05 mm | Axes: 6 | Maximum Tool Speed: 3.7 m/s
Best suited for: Heavier cartons, larger machine-tending components, palletising, assembly and industrial material transfer.

Model: S40
Payload: 40 kg | Reach: 2,000 mm | Robot Weight: 89 kg | Repeatability: ±0.05 mm | Axes: 5 | Maximum Tool Speed: 3.7 m/s
Best suited for: Long-reach palletising, structured loading and unloading, stacking and heavy transfers that do not require full six-axis tool orientation.

Model: S50
Payload: 50 kg | Reach: 2,000 mm | Robot Weight: 156 kg | Repeatability: ±0.1 mm | Axes: 6 | Maximum Tool Speed: 6.4 m/s
Best suited for: Heavy machine tending, large-part handling, automotive components, high-capacity palletising and tasks requiring both high payload and six-axis movement.

Model: S60
Payload: 60 kg | Reach: 2,000 mm | Robot Weight: 151 kg | Repeatability: ±0.1 mm | Axes: 5 | Maximum Tool Speed: 6.4 m/s
Best suited for: The heaviest structured handling, palletising and loading tasks in the S range where maximum payload is more important than six-axis flexibility.

S Series vs Other Huayan Robotics Cobot Series

S Heavy Payload Series – Larger and Heavier Applications
The S Series covers payloads from 20 kg to 60 kg. It is designed primarily for heavy handling, palletising, machine tending and large-component automation. Some models have five axes rather than six.

Elfin Series – General-Purpose Cobots
The standard Elfin range covers lighter payloads from 4 kg to 18 kg and provides six-axis movement across every model. It is better suited to assembly, inspection, dispensing, welding, light machine tending and applications where a smaller and more precise robot is preferred.

Elfin-Pro – Force and Vision Applications
Elfin-Pro retains the lighter 4–18 kg payload range but adds options such as end-force control, AI vision, internal wiring and IP66 protection. It is better suited to intelligent picking, polishing, force-sensitive assembly and vision-guided work than the heavy-load-focused S Series.

Elfin-Ex – Hazardous Environments
Elfin-Ex is the specialised explosion-proof family. It provides certified explosion-protection configurations and IP66 sealing for industries involving combustible gases or dust, including petrochemical processing, coating and hazardous-material environments.

In practical terms, choose the S Series when payload and reach are the main priorities, the Elfin Series for general light-to-medium automation, Elfin-Pro for integrated force or vision capabilities, and Elfin-Ex for hazardous environments.
