Top 5+ Qualities (by addoobot)

What we find to be the top qualities of the Rainbow Robotics RB Series Cobots:

  • Broad Model Selection: The lineup stretches from compact 3 kg models to the RB20-1900 with a 20 kg payload and 1,900 mm reach.
  • Consistent Repeatability: Every model on the current product page is listed with ±0.05 mm repeatability.
  • Strong Environmental Protection: Most models are listed as IP66, making them suitable for more demanding production environments; the RB3-730 is currently listed as IP54.
  • Flexible Installation: The arms can be mounted on the floor, wall, ceiling, a fixed post or at another required angle.
  • Easy Programming: Users can position the arm through direct teaching or jogging and create programs through a visual interface.
  • Integration-Friendly Controls: Multiple industrial communication protocols and digital and analogue I/O simplify connection with PLCs, tools and other automation equipment.
  • Built-In Safety Functions: Collision detection and configurable safety functions support collaborative applications when the complete installation has been properly risk-assessed.
  • In-House Core Technology: Rainbow Robotics develops major components, including actuators, encoders, brakes and controllers, all in-house.

A Cobot Range for Different Automation Needs

The RB Series is not built around a single standard arm. Instead, Rainbow Robotics offers models with noticeably different combinations of payload, reach and physical size.

At the lighter end, the RB3-730 is intended for compact, precise work such as electronics, welding and bonding. The RB3-1200 keeps the 3 kg payload but extends the working radius to 1,200 mm, making it more suitable where reach is more important than lifting capacity. The RB5-850 is positioned as the general-purpose model for tasks such as handling, assembly and fastening.

Higher-payload models support more demanding material-handling applications. The RB10-1300 can handle packaging, CNC loading and pallet-loading tasks, while the RB16-900 prioritises higher payload within a relatively compact working area. At the top of the range, the RB20-1900 combines a 20 kg payload with a 1,900 mm reach for palletizing, packaging and large-work-envelope handling.

The newer RB6-1700 adds another long-reach option, while the upcoming RB6-920 is designed to provide a middle-ground 6 kg payload and 920 mm reach.

Designed for Practical Integration

Rainbow Robotics has focused on making the RB Series suitable for integration into existing production and service environments. The arms can be mounted on horizontal surfaces, walls, ceilings, fixed posts or at other angles, allowing the robot to be positioned around machines, conveyors and workstations instead of requiring a standard floor-mounted layout.

Programming is handled through Rainbow Robotics’ graphical interface, with program-tree views, built-in actions, jog controls and hand-guiding. Operators can physically guide the robot into position, while integrators can use external control scripts, industrial communications and offline-programming tools.

The available control boxes provide digital and analogue I/O together with Ethernet-based protocols such as Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET. Support is also listed for systems from Siemens, OMRON and Mitsubishi. This makes the platform easier to connect to PLCs, sensors, grippers and other automation equipment.
