Top 5+ Qualities (by addoobot)

What we find to be the top qualities of the Huayan Robotics Elfin-Pro Series Cobots:

  • Broad Model Range: Seven models cover compact 4 kg applications through to 18 kg handling, with reaches ranging from 590 mm to 1,800 mm.
  • Force-Control or AI-Vision Configurations: Elfin-Pro can be configured with integrated end-effector force control or an integrated vision system, allowing the robot to be adapted for contact-sensitive or vision-guided work.
  • High Repeatability: The smaller Elfin-Pro models provide repeatability down to ±0.02 mm, supporting precision assembly, handling and inspection tasks.
  • Up to IP66 Protection: Selected force-control configurations can achieve IP66 protection, making them better suited to environments involving dust, moisture or cleaning than lower-rated cobots.
  • Internal Wiring: Internally routed vision connections help reduce loose external cables, simplify integration and lower the risk of tangled wiring or signal interference.
  • Flexible Programming and Connectivity: Graphical programming, remote interfaces and support for common industrial communication protocols make the series easier to connect to machines, tools and production systems.
  • Award-Winning Industrial Design: Elfin-Pro received both the 2024 iF Design Award and the 2024 Red Dot Design Award for its modular structure, practical surface design and flexibility across different applications.

One Series, Seven Different Work Envelopes

The Elfin-Pro lineup lets integrators choose between compact, lightweight arms and larger models with more reach or carrying capacity. The E03-Pro is the smallest at 18 kg, with a 4 kg payload and 590 mm reach. At the opposite ends of the range, the E12-Pro provides the longest reach at 1,800 mm, while the E15-Pro offers the highest payload at 18 kg.

The result is not one single specialised cobot but a scalable platform. Users can select a compact model for light precision work, an extended-reach version for accessing larger work areas, or a higher-payload model for heavier tools and components.

Force and Vision for More Adaptive Tasks

The Elfin-Pro builds on Huayan’s original Elfin platform by adding configurations with integrated end-effector force control or integrated AI vision. Force feedback allows the robot to detect contact with a part or surface, making it useful for applications where position control alone may not be enough. Examples include guided insertion, polishing, surface processing and drag teaching for welding.

The available vision configuration supports visual correction and positioning, automatic focusing, multiple light sources and more than 10 positioning modes. Huayan also routes the vision connection internally, helping reduce the external cables that could otherwise become tangled around the moving arm. These capabilities allow Elfin-Pro robots to work with parts whose exact position or shape may vary, although the final performance will depend on the selected robot, configuration, tooling and application design.

Applications Across Industry and Laboratories

Huayan presents the Elfin-Pro for welding, grinding, polishing, assembly, screwdriving, spraying and pick-and-place work. The company also documents more specialised deployments. An E03-Pro has been used as a portable welding robot in shipbuilding, while an E10-Pro was combined with 3D vision and sensors for carbon-fibre lamination. Vision-equipped E10-Pro robots have also been connected with laboratory instruments to open containers, transfer samples and dispense liquids.

Another documented laboratory solution uses an E05-Pro mounted with an additional linear axis to perform liquid transfer, weighing, dispensing and testing. Huayan also describes force- and vision-guided insertion of precision components, as well as systems equipped with specialised massage attachments. Together, these examples show that the Elfin-Pro is not limited to conventional production lines—it can also support laboratories and other specialised automation systems when equipped with the appropriate tools, software and safety controls.

Elfin-Pro Model Comparison

Model: E03-Pro
Payload: 4 kg | Reach: 590 mm | Robot Weight: 18 kg | Repeatability: ±0.02 mm
Best suited for: Compact assembly, light pick-and-place, laboratory work, inspection and applications where low robot weight and a small working envelope matter.

Model: E05-Pro
Payload: 7 kg | Reach: 800 mm | Robot Weight: 25 kg | Repeatability: ±0.02 mm
Best suited for: General assembly, component handling, screwdriving, testing and medium-sized workstations requiring a balance of payload and precision.

Model: E05L-Pro
Payload: 5 kg | Reach: 950 mm | Robot Weight: 26 kg | Repeatability: ±0.02 mm
Best suited for: Light components or tools that need greater reach than the standard E05-Pro can provide.

Model: E10-Pro
Payload: 12 kg | Reach: 1,000 mm | Robot Weight: 43 kg | Repeatability: ±0.03 mm
Best suited for: Heavier handling, welding, polishing, machine loading and applications requiring a comparatively high payload within a moderate reach.

Model: E10L-Pro
Payload: 10 kg | Reach: 1,300 mm | Robot Weight: 45 kg | Repeatability: ±0.03 mm
Best suited for: Extended-reach welding, machine tending, handling and inspection where workspace coverage is more important than maximum payload.

Model: E12-Pro
Payload: 12 kg | Reach: 1,800 mm | Robot Weight: 70 kg | Repeatability: ±0.05 mm
Best suited for: Long-reach welding, servicing larger machines and tasks spread across wide work areas.
