A Vision-Enabled Cobot Family
The Techman TM AI Cobot Series is best understood as a cobot family built around the idea of combining robot motion with machine vision. Many cobots can move safely around people, but Techman’s key angle is that the robot can also “see” using its integrated vision system. That makes it useful for jobs where the robot needs to locate parts, check orientation, read barcodes, perform visual inspection, or adapt to small changes in the workspace.
This matters because many real factory tasks are not perfectly fixed. Parts may not always be in the exact same position, labels may need checking, and production lines may change from one product to another. With built-in vision and TMflow programming, the TM AI Cobot Series is designed to make these kinds of changes easier to manage without building a completely custom vision system from scratch.
Applications
The TM AI Cobot Series can be used across a wide range of industrial tasks, especially where flexibility and visual guidance are useful. Common applications include material handling, assembly, automated optical inspection, machine tending, dispensing, packaging, palletizing, finishing, and pick-and-place.
The smaller TM5 models are well suited to compact production spaces, small parts assembly, electronics, testing, and inspection work. The TM12 and TM14 are better suited when more reach or payload is needed, while the TM16 and TM20 move into heavier-duty work such as machine tending, larger pick-and-place tasks, packaging, and palletizing.
This makes the series useful for businesses that want one cobot family with several size options instead of choosing from completely different robot platforms. The main idea is simple: pick the model based on how far the arm needs to reach and how much weight it needs to carry.
What Makes This Cobots Special
The main thing that makes the TM AI Cobot Series special is the combination of collaborative operation, built-in vision, and simple programming. Instead of treating the camera, robot arm, and software as separate pieces that need to be integrated manually, Techman brings them together as one cobot platform.
That can be especially helpful for small and medium-sized manufacturers that want automation but do not want a highly complex robot setup. The robot is still an industrial tool, so proper safety assessment and integration are still needed, but the platform is designed to reduce the difficulty of getting started.
Compared with the newer TM AI Cobot S Series, the original TM AI Cobot Series is the more established lineup. The S Series offers upgrades such as improved repeatability and faster motion.
