The Doosan P-Series is Doosan Robotics’ palletizing-focused cobot line, and the P3020 is currently the only key model in this series. It is designed for businesses that need to move, stack, and organise heavier items without jumping straight to a large traditional industrial robot cell. The main idea is simple: give users more payload and reach for repetitive end-of-line tasks, while keeping the system within the collaborative robot category.

The P3020 sits apart from Doosan’s other cobot series because it is much more specialised. The A-Series is more about lighter and easier automation, the M-Series is more of a premium general-purpose cobot range, the H-Series focuses on heavy-duty handling with 6-axis capability, and the E-Series is aimed at food and beverage applications. The P-Series, on the other hand, is clearly aimed at palletizing and heavy item stacking. That makes it less of an “anything robot” and more of a practical, focused tool for warehouses, packaging lines, manufacturing plants, and logistics operations.

Applications

The most obvious application for the Doosan P3020 is palletizing. This means picking boxes, cartons, or packaged goods from a conveyor or staging area and placing them onto pallets in a repeated pattern. For factories, warehouses, and packaging lines, this type of task can be tiring, repetitive, and physically demanding for workers, especially when the items are heavy or when shifts are long.

The P3020 can also be used for heavy item handling, stacking, transport support, and end-of-line packaging automation. It is especially relevant where businesses need to move goods consistently, reduce manual lifting, and improve the flow between production and shipping. In many cases, the robot would be combined with a gripper, safety scanner, palletizing software, conveyor, and fixed base to create a complete palletizing cell.

Because it is floor-mounted and designed around palletizing, it is not the best match for every cobot task. For small assembly, inspection, lab automation, or flexible bench-top work, a smaller Doosan A-Series or M-Series robot would usually make more sense. But for heavy repetitive palletizing, the P3020 is one of Doosan’s strongest options.

What Makes This Robot Special

The most interesting thing about the Doosan P3020 is that it pushes cobots further into territory that was traditionally handled by larger industrial robots. A 30 kg payload is substantial for a collaborative robot, and the long reach gives it practical value for palletizing layouts where the robot needs to cover wider movement areas.

Another standout point is the 5-axis design. Most cobots are 6-axis robots because that gives them more flexibility and wrist movement. Doosan made the P3020 different because palletizing does not always need the same type of wrist motion as general-purpose robot work. By focusing the structure around palletizing, Doosan aims to reduce singularity issues, improve stability, and increase efficiency for this specific application.

This is why the P3020 should not be viewed as a direct replacement for every 6-axis cobot. It is better understood as a specialised palletizing cobot: powerful, long-reaching, and designed for repetitive heavy stacking. For users comparing cobots, the key question is not just “Can it lift 30 kg?” but “Do I need a robot mainly for palletizing?” If the answer is yes, the P-Series becomes much more attractive.
