Designed to Keep People Away From Hazardous Work

The defining feature of this series is not a completely different robot architecture. Instead, SIASUN has taken selected robots from its GCR family and adapted them into an explosion-proof collaborative robot system.

SIASUN specifically positions these robots for environments encountered in industries such as petroleum, natural gas and chemicals, where workers may otherwise be exposed to flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful, high-temperature or high-pressure conditions. The idea is straightforward: where a process presents additional environmental hazards, an appropriately configured robot can perform repetitive operations while reducing the need for personnel to remain directly in the hazardous work area.

The series does not sacrifice the normal functions associated with SIASUN's GCR cobots. SIASUN continues to highlight collaborative safety, direct teaching, rapid deployment, vision integration, force perception and support for application-specific software. Applications shown by SIASUN and DUCO include loading and unloading, painting, assembly, screw fastening, welding, gluing and quality inspection.

How Is the Explosion-Proof Series Different From the Standard GCR Series

These are best understood as specialized GCR variants, rather than completely unrelated cobots.

For each current EX model, SIASUN offers a corresponding standard robot:

The headline mechanical performance is therefore essentially the same: payload, reach, repeatability and even the published robot weights match their standard GCR counterparts.

The big difference is the hazardous-environment protection. The EX system adds the documented explosion-proof design and marking, an explosion-proof control enclosure, IP65 protection in the dedicated EX brochure, and a specified clean-air source.

There is also much less model choice. The regular GCR family currently contains 10 models from 3 to 30 kg, whereas the current Explosion-Proof Series contains four selected models from 10 to 25 kg.
