Top 5+ Qualities (by addoobot)

What we find to be the top qualities of the F&P Robotics P‑Rob Eco Cobot:

  • Lightweight with Practical Reach: The 16 kg arm combines a 900 mm reach with a maximum payload of 5 kg.
  • Easy Browser-Based Programming: myP can be accessed through a web browser and supports visual programming, Blockly, Python scripting and API-based control.
  • Flexible System Integration: ROS 2, REST, Modbus TCP, TCP sockets and physical I/O provide several ways to connect the cobot to other equipment and software.
  • Multiple Mounting Options: The arm can be installed on the floor, a wall or the ceiling, and F&P also supports deployment on mobile platforms.
  • Clean, Integration-Friendly Design: A lightweight carbon structure and internally routed electrical, Ethernet and pneumatic lines reduce exposed cabling around the arm.
  • Continuous Sixth-Axis Rotation: The endlessly rotating final axis provides extra flexibility for tasks involving repeated tool rotation.
  • Collaboration-Focused Safety: Collision detection, safeguard stops, emergency stops and safely reduced speed support applications where people and robots share a workspace.
  • Useful End-of-Arm Connectivity: Power, digital and analogue I/O, Ethernet and pneumatic lines are available close to the tool flange for integrating grippers, cameras and custom tooling.

Applications

P‑Rob Eco is designed for relatively light automation tasks that benefit from flexibility, repeatability and easy reprogramming. In laboratories, F&P highlights workflows such as sample transfer, instrument loading, tube handling and material preparation. The company also lists inspection, R&D automation and human–robot interaction studies as suitable uses.

In manufacturing, the arm can perform repeated contact and positioning operations for electronic testing. F&P also demonstrates it in bottle-filling workflows, where it can support positioning, filling and capping for small-batch or high-mix production. Other stated uses include light assembly, research experiments and robotics education.

Its 5 kg payload means it is best suited to smaller workpieces, samples, tools and containers rather than heavy machine tending or palletising. Optional grippers, camera systems, custom end effectors and tool changers can be added to configure the arm for a particular task.

Programming and Integration

The myP software is one of P‑Rob Eco’s most useful features. It runs through a web browser, so users do not need to install a dedicated desktop application simply to access the robot. Beginners can start with visual or Blockly-based programming and manual teach-in, while more experienced developers can use Python scripts and API control.

For connection to a wider automation system, F&P currently lists ROS 2, REST, Modbus TCP and TCP socket support. The cobot can also be integrated with vision systems, laboratory instruments, conveyors, PLCs, autonomous mobile robots and third-party automation software.

Physical integration is supported by configurable I/O at both the control box and the end effector. Ethernet, power, electrical user lines and two pneumatic lines are routed through the arm, helping reduce external hoses and cables. This combination makes P‑Rob Eco suitable for both straightforward teaching applications and more customised laboratory or industrial systems.

What Makes P‑Rob Eco Special

P‑Rob Eco’s main strength is the combination of a lightweight arm, practical working range and integration-friendly design. At 16 kg, it remains relatively easy to reposition or incorporate into compact workstations while still providing a 900 mm reach and 5 kg payload. It can be mounted in any orientation, and the option for external DC power makes integration on a battery-powered mobile platform possible.

The arm also has a continuously rotating sixth axis, a standard ISO tool flange and internal routes for Ethernet, electrical connections and compressed air. These details are particularly useful when an application needs rotating tools or a clean external setup.

Safety functions include collision detection, emergency and safeguard stops, and safely reduced speed. These support collaborative applications, but the complete installation—including the tool, workpiece, speed and task—still needs an application-specific safety assessment before deciding whether additional guarding is required.
