What can the Niryo Ned3 Pro automate

Ned3 Pro is best suited to repetitive processes involving small and relatively light objects. Niryo lists pick-and-place, assembly, filling, labelling, defect detection, test benches, visual inspection and several forms of packaging among its intended applications. Its compact base makes it particularly useful when a conventional industrial robot would be too large for the available workstation.

The robot has also been deployed in practical professional processes. At Biolabo, a Ned3 Pro was configured to move across trays containing 255 vials while coordinating a filling operation, with a target cycle of two seconds per vial. In another project, two Ned3 Pro robots handled moulded-cellulose parts during unloading, weighing, reshaping and geometric inspection. Niryo has also used the robot with vacuum tooling to load and unload dental aligners from a cutting machine. These examples demonstrate realistic applications in laboratories, small-part production, inspection, machine tending and packaging rather than heavy manufacturing.

Programming and system integration

Ned3 Pro accommodates different levels of programming experience. NiryoStudio provides a visual Blockly interface for creating and running programs without conventional coding. Python, PyNiryo and the Niryo ROS stack are available when an application requires custom logic, external software or more detailed robot control. Niryo also identifies compatibility with ROS 2 and RoboDK, while the official ROS stack includes tools for RViz and Gazebo simulation.

The robot can communicate over dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth and USB. TCP/IP and Modbus TCP support networked integration, while its physical I/O and dedicated accessory interfaces can connect sensors, conveyors and actuators. Niryo’s optional 5 V/24 V I/O Adapter enables connections to compatible 24 V PLC equipment. Positions can also be taught by holding the FreeMotion button, manually guiding the unpowered joints and saving the resulting pose in NiryoStudio. Together, these options make Ned3 Pro suitable for standalone demonstrations, laboratory automation and coordinated training or production workcells.
